Gastric varix, management for young gastroenterologists.
A 55-year-old woman presented with hematemesis and melena. The patient was admitted to the ICU. Hemoglobin was 6gm/dl, and platelet count was 66000. blood transfusion was given. Upper digestive endoscopy revealed gastric varix. Injection with 10 ampules of amacrylate was done.
Notes:
1- injection of distilled water before and after injection.
2-in the antegrade position of the scope, introduce the injector needle. Sometimes, it is difficult in the introverted position, especially when the scope diameter is narrow.
