Acute cholangitis, liver abscess


A 38-year-old woman presented with direct hyperbilirubinemia severe abdominal pain. There are elevated liver enzymes. The patient gave a history of cholecystectomy 1 year ago. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a dilated common bile duct with a distal stone of about 7 mm. The patient underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. The scope revealed a massive amount of pus. Clearance of the CBD using an extraction balloon showed a considerable amount of pus. There are no CBD stones.
