A 65-year-old man
presented with melena and was admitted to the endoscopy unit. The patient gives
a history of chronic liver disease. A few weeks ago, the patient presented with
obstructive jaundice, and investigations revealed dilated CBD due to a pancreatic
mass. The patient underwent percutaneous drainage of bile due to the bad
general condition. Unfortunately, a few days after the PTD, the patient had
melena. Upper digestive endoscopy revealed a mass at the ampullary region(the
cause of jaundice and may be the cause of melena) and esophageal varices. Band
ligation for the esophageal varices was done.
