injection of #gastric #varices, more tips and tricks

A 67-year-old man was admitted to the endoscopy unit, underwent upper digestive endoscopy. the scope revealed gastric varix. the endoscopist injected varix with 5 ampoules of #amcrlylate.

tips and tricks: 1- try to assess your injector when the endoscope is in a straight position i.e pointing to the pyloric region before you retroflex the scope to the fundus especially when the diameter of your scope is small. 2- assess the distensibility of varix with the tip of your injector 3- try to inflate the stomach with a moderate amount of air or CO2 to flatten the gastric folds and better assess varix. 4- you can notice the inflation of varix with the glue by increasing the diameter of varix and changing its color. 5- you can palpate varix after injection, it gets hard, and so you are sure that your injection is successful.
