band ligation for esophageal varices and severe gastropathy

A 52-year-old man with a history of liver cirrhosis and splenomegaly. The patient on regular follow-up for esophageal varices. Upper GI endoscopy revealed severe gastropathy with easily bleeding gastric mucosa. The endoscopy revealed large esophageal varices that were treated with band ligation. In spite of the severe gastropathy, the patient did not have any epigastric complaints e.g. vomiting, dyspepsia, nausea.
