A 74-year-old man presented with hematemesis and melena was
admitted to the endoscopy unit. After resuscitation, the patient underwent
upper digestive endoscopy. The scope revealed gastric varices.
How you can measure the amount of histoacryl needed for this
varix.
How you will manage this varix?
1-
Band ligation
2-
Injection with histoacryl glue
3-
EUS assisted injection of
varix or obturation using coils
4-
Fluoroscopy assisted
occlusion by a radiologist.
We inject varix with 5 ampoules of #amcrylate and lipiodol.
I think this method is the cheapest one and we have a great
experience when using this maneuver.
You should note that the other methods are used successfully
by GI endoscopists
